Untitled
Charles Dix

Awash with bold colors, Untitled by Charles Dix hangs in a cozy corner of the library,
just past the Teen Zone. The painting was dedicated in honor of John Melster, Friends of the
Waukesha Public Library Treasurer for forty-six years. Acquired in 2010.
About the Artist
Charles, Dix, an award-winning artist, earned a world-wide reputation from his home and
studio in Delafield. Dix was primarily self-taught. He was inspired by color since boyhood
and was always known for his bold color and innovative techniques.
Dix's immense output in artwork ranged from peaceful, nature-inspired watercolors to flamboyant
visions of an inter-galactic future. Others included cloudlike abstractions, executed in repeated
washes of acrylic, as well as metallic-bronze abstracts and landscapes that became his trademark.
